Coraline Costume

This past weekend we watched the movie, Coraline! We all adored this deliciously creepy adaptation of Neil Gaiman's book. Our girls watched it twice within days!

I thought that Coraline would be a fantastic costume for Halloween!

Instead of some cookie cutter costume that is cheaply made and costs a fortune, wouldn't something creative and different be perfect?

A simple yellow raincoat and boots, some blue hair spray or blue wig, a pair of jeans and a dragonfly hair clip and you have a great costume and an outfit that can be useful for more than just one night of Trick-or-Treating!

A black cat accessory to carry along Halloween night - $9.99

Check out these great items I found at Etsy!
Polymer clay key by - $15.00
Put a ribbon through the top loop and wear it as a necklace!

In love with this "Other Mother" Print

**Happy Trick or Treating!**

“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist,
but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
-Neil Gaiman, Coraline.

  2. I agree with you about the cookie cutter costumes. I will admit, that I have bought them before, only because I don't know how to sew. But I love the idea of me and my children creating their costumes together and being resourceful with the materials we use. Now that my daughters are older, this is something I hope we do soon.

    Thanks for sharing,
    Tricia

  3. I really enjoyed the artistry involved in making this movie. All the intricate little hand-sewn costumes, and the handmade sets. Such a marvelous movie!

  7. I bought a Coraline doll on Etsy, it is amazing, everything is hand stitched. It even has the little dragonfly in her hair and removable clothing. The seller is figurinesbyingrid, super cool doll.

  8. Thank you for sharing the links on where to buy the rain jacket and boots! I had been to every local store and couldn't find anything for children in yellow! My daughter is obsessed with Coraline and is going to be the most adorable trick or treater this year! =)

  9. It may be a little late to add any new findings but if anyone has a little tot who would like to go as Coraline in her starry sweater Other Mother outfit, and also if you live in a cold climate, I just happened across this blue dark stars jacket:

It's a little high pricey. There are actually cheaper star sweaters here:
